What is Career Counseling?

Career counseling is a form of therapy that helps individuals understand and manage the psychological and emotional aspects of their careers or their career choices. It can help individuals identify their strengths and weaknesses, set career goals, and make informed decisions about their future.

One of the most common reasons people seek career counseling is because they are feeling stuck in their current job. They may feel unfulfilled or unsatisfied with their work, and this can negatively impact their mental health. A career counselor can help individuals identify the root of their dissatisfaction and work on finding a job that aligns with their values and interests.

Another reason people seek career counseling is because they are experiencing a significant life change, such as a layoff or retirement. These changes can be incredibly stressful and can take a toll on an individual's mental health. A career counselor can help individuals cope with these changes and develop a plan for moving forward.

For those who are dealing with mental health issues, career counseling can be especially beneficial. A career counselor can help individuals understand how their mental health may be impacting their work, and work on strategies to manage their symptoms. This can include things like developing a self-care plan, learning stress-management techniques, and identifying accommodations that may be necessary in the workplace.

If you're struggling with your career and mental health, know that help is available. Career counseling can be a valuable tool in helping you navigate the job market and make informed decisions about your future.
