Grow.

Our child therapists have helped families overcome issues involving racism, generational abuse, addictions, grief and shame, codependency, and complex trauma. Rachel Nauss, LCSW, RPT-S has over a decade of experience, and truly enjoys watching families grow into their healthy, happy, best selves.

Karin Schober LPC-S worked in the school systems helping children and parents navigate the system and heal adjust to new circumstances surrounding life events.

Play Therapy and Parent Consult sessions with our child therapists are $150 per session. (See Below)

Rachel has always had a heart for the things important to people, going back to “counseling sessions” on the playground in elementary school. The same passion also fueled her own journey in mental and emotional healing.  She is passionate about all aspects of health and wellness and believes in a holistic approach when considering mental health. Since no two people are alike, treatment approaches will look different to accommodate the uniqueness of the individuals.

Rachel obtained a Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2006 and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist.

Most of her professional experience consists of working alongside families involved with the foster care system where issues involving racism, generational abuse, addictions, grief and shame, codependency, and complex trauma are dominant.  She is also active in the recovery ministry at her church. Her ministry and professional experiences give her a strong background in both addictions and childhood trauma.

Where can you find Rachel during her free time? Chances are decent she is either at the gym, on the trails running, or curled up with her dogs, husband, and a good book. Or at the coffee shop. Always the coffee shop.

Rachel Nauss is a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and sees children through adults. She offers online counseling to residents of Texas.

Rachel’s Rate is $150 per session.

How to prepare your child for their first session:

  • Why?

Explaining play therapy to a child can be a challenge, especially if they believe something is "wrong" with them.  Try the these tips.

  • Explain

Explain that, "Since things aren't going so well for you at home (or at school) we thought you would like to have some special play times with a play therapist named Rachel.  She has a playroom with a lot of toys that you can play with in a lot of different ways."

  • They're Safe

And, "Rachel will not make you do anything you don't want to do, and you will be able to choose when you want to say something."

  • Consistent

Also, "Your play times with Rachel will normally happen at the same time each week.  Sometimes she will need to talk to your parents about how you're doing."

  • You're the Parent

Remember that you are the parent, and you know what is best for your child, even when they throw fits about it.

  • Pictures

Our social media accounts have LOTS of pictures of the facility and of the animals and therapists. It might help your child feel more comfortable if you show them where their session will take place.
