Accelerated Resolution Therapy
ART is a procedural technique used by trained professionals to detach negative emotions from the memory of a traumatic event. It has also been found helpful in areas like depression, anxiety, pain management, phobias, and more.
If you’re a mental health professional looking for ART Training - we host trainings
Training is provided by the Rosenzweig Center for Rapid Recovery, LLC (RCRR). The Hope Place uses ART consistently and has found it to be one of the most helpful techniques we use with our clients.
Research shows that ART is clinically effective between 2 and 5 ART sessions. We are passionate about helping your brain heal itself so that you can be the best Dad, Mom, brother, sister, boss, coworker, and neighbor you can be.
Through ART, clients can find relief from distressing memories, reduce anxiety, and improve overall well-being. The image depicts the transformative process of ART, symbolizing hope, resilience, and positive change.
Performance Enhancement
The best athletes in the world mentally rehearse the physical feats they’re about to attempt. If they visualized this rehearsal using eye movements, research suggests that they can learn faster and enhance their performance. Our brains are wonderful things.
Keep the knowledge, lose the pain.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a peer reviewed, evidence-based treatment. ART utilizes rapid eye movements, similar to the way our brains use eye movements while we’re sleeping. Unlike REM sleep, you are able to chose what you’d like to process and how you would like to process it, because you are fully awake and in control during the ART session.
ART differs from EMDR in that it is much more procedural. A trained therapist will walk you through each step. ART also targets certain sensations and memories leaving the client less flooded with emotions that leave them feeling raw. There is no homework and each session is considered it’s own intervention. It doesn’t erase memory. It detaches negative emotions from events.
ART Process
It begins with an intake. Next is your ART session using the eye movements. Lastly is the process session where we look for a decrease in symptoms. The therapist will assess if an additional ART session is needed based on your goals.

Common Accelerated Resolution Therapy Questions
What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)?
ART is an evidence based therapy that uses gentle back and forth eye movements to help your brain separate painful emotions from a difficult memory. You keep the facts of what happened, but the memory stops carrying the same emotional weight. The phrase we use is keep the knowledge, lose the pain.
How is ART different from EMDR?
ART and EMDR both use eye movements, but ART is more structured and procedural. Your therapist walks you through each step, and ART adds guided imagery so you can replace distressing pictures in your mind with calmer ones. Many people feel less emotionally flooded during ART, and there is no homework between sessions.
Do I have to talk about my trauma in detail?
No. One of the most reassuring parts of ART is that you do not have to describe your trauma out loud for it to work. You stay fully awake and in control the whole time, and you decide how much you want to share.
How many sessions does ART take?
Often just a few. Research shows ART is frequently effective within 2 to 5 sessions, and each session works as its own complete intervention rather than building slowly toward a distant finish line.
Does ART erase my memories?
No. ART does not remove or rewrite your memories. It loosens the painful emotions attached to them, so you keep the knowledge of what happened while letting go of the distress that came with it.
What does an ART session look like?
There are usually three parts. First an intake to understand your goals, then the ART session itself using the eye movements, and finally a process session where your therapist looks for a drop in symptoms and decides with you whether another session would help.
What can ART help with?
ART is used for trauma and PTSD, and it has also helped people with anxiety, depression, grief, phobias, and pain management. Some clients even use it for performance enhancement. Your therapist will talk with you about whether it fits your goals.
Are there any side effects?
ART is considered safe and well tolerated, and it uses no medication. Some people notice temporary effects afterward, such as vivid dreams, tiredness, or a brief lift in emotion as the brain settles. These usually pass quickly, and your therapist will check in with you along the way.
Can I do ART online?
Yes. We offer ART both in person at our Mansfield office and through telehealth for anyone living in Texas, so you can choose whichever feels more comfortable for you.
How much does ART cost at The Hope Place?
ART includes three appointment types: an intake at $175 to $195, the ART session itself, which runs about an hour and 40 minutes, at $350 to $390, and a shorter process session at $175 to $195. Rates vary by your provider's experience and licensure, and you can see current pricing when you book.
