Is Occupational Therapy right for you?

Occupational therapy helps you move beyond symptoms to confidently engage in the daily activities that make life meaningful.

Occupational therapy focuses on building the skills and strategies you need for everyday life. Instead of only talking about challenges, OT uses meaningful activities to help you practice real-world skills and find joy again in the things that matter most.

Sessions are available in office or in homes depending on their location.

Sessions could include things like:

  • Creating daily routines that support mental wellness (sleep, meal prep, personal care)

  • Using art, movement, or outdoor activities for stress relief and emotional regulation

  • Practicing executive functioning skills (planning, organizing, problem-solving)

  • Building confidence in social interactions and relationships

  • Supporting return-to-work skills, job readiness, and workplace coping strategies

Occupational Therapy FAQs

What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy, or OT, helps you build the skills and routines you need for everyday life. Despite the name, it is not about finding a job. The occupations it refers to are the meaningful daily activities that fill your life, from getting ready in the morning to staying organized to connecting with the people around you.

How is occupational therapy different from physical therapy?

Physical therapy focuses on how your body moves, like rebuilding strength after an injury. Occupational therapy focuses on how you carry out daily life. At The Hope Place, that often means daily routines, emotional regulation, focus and organization, and confidence in work and relationships, rather than physical rehab.

Does occupational therapy help adults, or is it just for kids?

OT helps people of every age. While many people picture OT as a service only for children, our occupational therapy supports teens and adults too, especially around mental health, daily functioning, and getting back to the activities that matter most.

How does OT help with mental health?

Occupational therapy actually has roots in mental health care. When depression makes getting out of bed hard, or anxiety gets in the way of everyday tasks, an occupational therapist helps you build practical strategies and routines so you can get back to daily life, not just talk about it.

What might an OT session include?

Sessions are hands on and built around your goals. They might include creating daily routines that support sleep, meals, and self care, using art, movement, or outdoor activities for stress relief, practicing executive functioning skills like planning and organizing, building confidence in social situations, or working on job readiness and workplace coping skills.

What can occupational therapy help with?

Our OT supports self care and daily living skills, work and productivity, and social participation and relationships. That can look like meal planning, medication management, sleep routines, returning to work, practicing interview skills, or reconnecting with family and community.

Where do OT sessions take place?

Sessions are available in our Mansfield office or in your home, depending on your location. We also offer options online for anyone living in Texas, so we can meet you where it works best for you.

Do you take insurance for occupational therapy?

No. Our OT services are private pay and are not covered by insurance at this time. Our occupational therapist does not want cost to be a barrier to care, so please reach out to her if cost is a concern for you.

How much does occupational therapy cost?

Rates generally run $175 per hour and can vary depending on where the session takes place. You are welcome to contact our occupational therapist directly to talk through cost and find an arrangement that works for you.
