Got Problems?
Get Hope.

Founded, Not Ventured

The Hope Place was founded by and owned by a local therapist and not a venture capital group. At the heart of her mission is to remove barriers to individualized, custom treatments based on research and results, and to allow professionals access to techniques like equine therapy that are otherwise difficult to come by.

Cabin with the red door

We are a group of mental health professionals that use goal orientated, post-modern talk therapy techniques and bilateral stimulation to treat children, teens, adults, couples, and families. We believe the language used in session is profoundly important. So, instead of, “Why are you coming to therapy?” - We will ask, “What are your best hopes from coming to see me?”

The setting

Located on 10 acres, The Hope Place was designed to feel more like a home than an office. We understand that it’s hard enough to ask for help, so we want to make your experience as comfortable as possible. We’re located right outside of Mansfield, TX city limits (10 minutes from historical downtown Mansfield) providing us with outdoor therapy options including small animal therapy with a baby goat! We often tell new comers to look for the cabin with the silver roof and the red door.

A different approach

Your brain is like a fingerprint. We incorporate treatments as individualized as you are, and if we are not the right place for you we give you referrals to people who may be a better fit.

We use approaches that treat without requiring you to explain in detail the problem, unless you find it helpful to do so.

  • When you feel relief after you tell someone the very thoughts you have been unwilling so far to share with anyone else and sometimes even with yourself, well then you know you have found a rare person and a safe place. I am so thankful.

 Service to others

We are partners with Pine Trees Counseling Center 501c3. They are a non profit offering mental health services to veterans, first responders, and their families. We will hold fundraisers, like Goat Yoga periodically to help support their mission. YOU CAN HELP TOO!

How we help

Online or in-person, SFBT is a therapy approach that acknowledges the problem, but is also curious about where you’re like to be instead of where you currently are. It’s like speaking a different language in order to facilitate therapy.

Accelerated resolution therapy

Accelerated Resolution Therapy is used with trauma, pain management, depression, anxiety, phobias to specifically avoid retraumatizing the client as they use eye movements to process through an event to detach the negative emotions from the problem.

Equine therapy

Equine Assisted Counseling (EAC) is an treatment method that uses the connection between people and horses to enhance emotional healing. (It’s a brain thing). Different forms of equine therapy may be used depending on client needs.

Outdoor therapy

In person, we use the 10 acres available to us to walk and use talk therapy at the same time. We recommend close toed shoes and pants!

Small animal assisted therapy

In-person, we continue to use our therapy modalities, but we use a small animal to assist the therapy. We have goats available for the session for an additional fee. Small Animal Therapy with a Nigerian Dwarf Goat or other small animal including dogs.

Group therapy

Group Therapy is designed in such a way that the cost of therapy is much less than a regular session and uses the power of connection to rescript your future self.

We provide Online Therapy to people residing in Texas. We use the software Simple Practice in order to keep our conversations HIPPA compliant and completely confidential! This is great for people working through depression and isolation that don’t have the energy to leave the house, or for people who may be at risk for severe COVID. You can schedule with any of our therapists online.

Rachel Nauss, LCSW is our Registered Play Therapist who uses play therapy in her work with children. This may include an animal or two as well!

Equine Facilitated Learning is a practice of learning life skills such as boundaries and social skills facilitated by an equine specialist that is available with or without the addition of psychotherapy at The Hope Place.

Rates vary by therapist. See Services for more information.
